Our Story
I’m Cheryl D - an artisan, interior stylist, and lifelong lover of home décor. I design mirrors and picture frames with a bit of a twist - each piece upholstered and wrapped in luxurious fabrics and trims, with a soft structure, much like your favorite overstuffed armchair or a perfectly styled pillow. My goal is simple: to create pieces that feel as beautiful and personal as the spaces they live in.I’ve been a maker for as long as I can remember. At 12 years old, my Godmother, Aunt Mattie - a gifted seamstress and designer - introduced me to the joy of creating something with my own hands. I still remember watching her transform a fox fur coat into a Halloween costume. To me, it was magic. And from that moment on, I became a creator - a sewer, a crafter, a doer - someone who believed in building a beautiful life through design.
That passion grew into a small business nearly 40 years ago. While pregnant with my third child, my husband Russ and I began making frames and mirrors at our dining room table, raising three children while building something of our own. The pieces were well-loved, and for a time, the business flourished.
But like many families, life shifted. We chose stability, careers, and raising our children, holding onto the dream that one day we would return to what we had started.
We built a beautiful life filled with love, creativity, and design. Our children grew into artists in their own right—each carrying a strong sense of personal style and possibility. In 2018, we lost Russ, and life changed again.
Today, I’m returning to the craft that started it all.
Complements of Cheryl D is more than a design business - it’s a continuation of a life shaped by creativity, resilience, and love. Each piece I create is meant to bring warmth, texture, and personality into your home, while helping preserve the moments that shape our lives.
Our story is one of family, reinvention, and the quiet courage to begin again.
As I step into this next chapter, I invite you to come along.
Let’s create something beautiful, functional, and uniquely your own.
Happy Decorating,
Cheryl D
